Made from the mature leaves of the nopal cactus, this material is soft, resilient, and naturally water-resistant.
Why we chose it: minimal water use, no cruelty, rich texture, and exceptional strength.
Apple Leather (AppleSkin™ and Uppeal™)
Created from apple pomace — the natural byproduct of the juice industry — and transformed into a sleek, smooth material.
Derived from grape skins and seeds left over from Italian winemaking.
Why we chose it: celebrates Italian heritage, low-impact production, lightweight yet supple feel.
Piñatex® (Pineapple Fiber)
Produced from pineapple leaf fibers, a natural agricultural waste.
Why we chose it: breathable, strong, organic texture, and rooted in regenerative agriculture.
Recycled or Low-Waste Textiles
Some American Studio partners work with upcycled materials, deadstock fabrics, or recycled linings.

Cactus, Apple, Grape & Piñatex Care
These plant-based textiles are durable but still appreciate gentle treatment.
Clean with a soft cloth lightly moistened with water.
Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, alcohol-based cleaners, or abrasive brushes.
If the bag becomes wet, pat dry with a clean cloth and allow it to air dry naturally.
Conditioners are not recommended, as these materials do not absorb oils like animal leather.
